Custom Art Works by Marty Scheffler

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Fgallery2-1Marty Scheffler captures the spirit of the pets that she draws in her exquisitely rendered pet portraits.  What began as a fundraiser for the Humane Society Animal Care and Control has turned into a passion for Marty.  She enjoys capturing the fine details of the animal’s facial expression in her pencil portraits. These detailed pieces reveal the essence of the animal through her use of shadow and texture.

Marty has an innate artistic talent and throughout her career she has explored a variety of art mediums for creative expression.  She is drawn to nature and the beauty of flowers as reflected in her floral compositions.  “I like to experiment with color and texture in my paintings.”  She says that, “nature provides a wonderful backdrop for my art.”

Fgallery1-7aI also find that art is a way for me to convey all aspects of my personality. I found that using an ordinary door was the  perfect canvas for my surfboard renditions,” she says.

“ Her stylized surfboard paintings on doors are very popular”, says Lori Taylor of Trends Home Decor where Marty’s work is displayed.   Marty is continuely exploring artistic methods and mediums to express her visual imagery.

Marty is  available for commissions and will capture the personality of your favorite pet for a lifetime. Marty can be reached at 904-880-3864 and her art can be seen on her website at www.mycustomart.info and at Trends Home Décor at 3919 Hendricks Avenue.

The Sweetest Thing

Friday, September 18th, 2009

The Cake Shop on Hendricks Avenue is making Friday’s even sweeter with curbside cupcake service. For a few hours this morning and a few hours this afternoon you can pull up in front of the Cake Shop and pick up a delicious treat without even turning off your car. The Cake Shop is tempting hungry motorists with vanilla vanilla and vanilla chocolate cupcakes for $2 a piece. Drive by and see the cupcake lady for yourself. It is pretty fantastic.
