Something is cooking at the location formerly known as Mares Sweet Kabob. After the weird turn of events including unpaid bills, stealing electricity and carbon monoxide poisoning that led to Mare’s abrupt closing, the space has sat vacant for months. Lately construction crews have been going in and out of 1520 Hendricks Avenue and the small sign on the front entrance to the building now reads “Green Urth Cafe.” We are not sure what type of restaurant this will be or when it will be open. With Panera closed, it would be great to see a bakery or cafe. We’ll wait patiently until it opens.
