It is too hot to cook or grill, so let Matthew Medure cook dinner for you while you kick back with a cold beer. Tonight is Matthew’s Summer Affair with Brew & Fare. A four course tasting menu matched with European imported beers. Drinks start at 6:30 p.m. with dinner being served at 7:00 p.m. The meal, and all that delicious beer, is $85 per person. Bastille Day at AIX

Bastille Day – the fireworks, the parades, the dances, the food! The food is the best part of the whole celebration. Bistro AIX is bringing the Bastille Day feast to Jacksonville. Starting at 5:00 p.m. today, AIX will offer a special Bastille Day menu infused with several French inspired dishes. Tonight’s menu will feature duck confit, orange marmalade vinagerette and goat cheese, ham and cheese crepes, and a Montana Ranch rib eye with ratatouille and fingerling potatoes. And what would a celebration be with out dessert and drinks. Try  AIX’s french meringues and Marcel Martin champagne. Onyx Bar will offer a variety of French infused drinks at happy hour prices. Make your reservations now for Matthew’s Summer Affair of Brew & Fare.The beer tasting dinner will feature a variety of European beers, paired with a four course tasting menu. Matthew’s has found to make this summer hotter than it already is with a three course prix fixe meal for $35 per person. The three course meal includes an appetizer, main course, and dessert. The menu is in no way limited to meet the amazing price. Choose from appetizers like prime tenderloin of beef carpaccio and red shrimp and crab salad. Entrees range from duck confit to grilled fish. Finish your meal off with a souffle or the restaurant’s signature molten chocolate cake. the three course prix fixe is available from 5:00 p.m – 10:00 p.m. through August 31, 2010.

AIX Extends Earth Day to Earth Week

If you did not already know, Earth Day is tomorrow. AIX has taken the initiative to host Earth Week. Since Monday they had been serving a sustainable, organic menu printed on plant-able paper. That’s right, you can take the menu home and plant it and wait for the flowers to grow. Menu items include Eden Farms Berkshire pork belly, Blue Hill Bay smoked mussels, and Montana Ranch New York Strips. Libations include an organic cucumber vodka cocktail, beer from Orlando Brewing, and organic wines from Cline and Parducci.

AIX has not only transformed Earth Day into a week long party, but also sustains Earth friendly efforts throughout the year. AIX recycles everything they can, sources local ingredients, and uses eco-friendly take-out containers.

The Green Urth is Open on Hendricks Avenue

The Green Urth has opened at 1520 Hendricks Avenue, across from the tennis courts. The concept is simple, a real kitchen cooking fresh food with natural ingredients. No preservatives, no additives. The menu will change from day to day but freshly prepared salads and sandwiches will be available for take out. Plus deserts with only the freshest of ingredients.
