Picture rail profileAre you tired of repairing holes in the wall from hanging art work? How about using the picture rail in your historic home or installing new picture rail to a newer home. Picture rail can give a unique and historically correct look to any home. Picture rail is common in
homes built between mid 1800’s – 1940’s, but the look continues today.   Art is hung by hooks and cords from the picture rail, any good framer can help with this service, the hardware will be setup a little different than hanging from a nail in drywall.  The Historic
San Marco, St. Nicholas, Riverside, and Springfield neighborhoods all have homes with original picture rail, check and see if you have some unused picture rail. If you do and would like some advice or help hanging your art give me, Ryan Buckley of Gallery
Framery a call 398-6255 or visit  www.galleryframery.com

Send a photo of your picture rail in to info@mysanmarco.com and I will offer a free home consultation and picture rail hooks to the first photo of an “un-used” picture rail. Value $60.00

We will do a follow up article showing the before and after of the project.

Stay tuned to this website for more information on the subject coming soon.

“Show Off” for the Holidays

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Local Artist, Jennie Szaltis, knows it is never too early to begin holiday preparation. She is on the mark with a match made in Heaven- Christmas, art , and handmade gifts. Her “Show Off” Christmas Workshops will present the opportunity for participants to paint their own Christmas painting which can be easily reproduced for one of a kind Christmas card. The end result- a fun and relaxing time from which you emerge with a Christmas painting, Christmas card and matching paper ornament. Beautiful keepsakes for yourself or as gifts.

A watercolorist and art instructor in Jacksonville for 30 years, Jennie has two local “Show Off ” workshops scheduled, as well as one in Mississippi , her home state. Before you ask, no drawing ability is necessary! Jennie does all the prep work for you so all you have to do is have fun!

Jennie has been a long-standing advocate of the arts in Jacksonville, both visuals and performing. Anyone who is acquainted with her knows her passion for keeping creativity alive and well.” I cannot emphasis how important I feel it is to keep art as a core program in our schools, and will always do my part to make it accessible to the community. I love teaching watercolor and watch the evolution of the creative confidence in my students. I’m particularly fond of the Christmas Card Workshops because they are a non- threatening and easy introduction to the creative process- plus you go home with a great product!”
