Hendricks Avenue Elementary participated in the International Walk to School day on Wednesday, October 6, 2010.  This is an annual event that promotes walking for several reasons such as physical activity, awareness of how walkable a community is, and concern for the environment by reducing pollution.  There were plenty of families enjoying their walk or bike ride, along both San Jose Blvd and Hendricks Avenue.  Water stations were set up at Hendricks to greet the incoming walkers and bikers.
