One of the most unique things at MOSH is Tonca, the alligator snapping turtle. Tonca is turning 45, although he does not look a day over 35.

Tonca’s dear friend Opossum Daisy May is hosting a birthday party for Tonca this Saturday from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. The party is open to the public and guests can help Tonca celebrate with face painting, birthday cake and making birthday hats and cards. And what 45 year old’s birthday would be complete without a weigh in. Around 3:00, Tonca will be hoisted from his pond in the Hixon Native Plant Courtyard at MOSH for his annual check-up and weigh in. Alligator snapping turtles can live to be 70 years old.
