Inshore Slam and Key Auto Junior Angler Fishing Tournaments Results

Sixty-three boats registered for the competition, fifty-seven actually fished. Thirty-five boats weighed in fish. It was supposed to be a terrible weather day, but somehow the weather cooperated for most of the day. The clouds kept passing us by and the wind was gusty. At times, the fisherman had to battle rough conditions. Top honors went to Jesse Rain whose slam weighed in at 12.90 pounds. Chris Kellem placed second in the slam competition with a total of 11.09 pounds. Eddie Cabler placed third with a total weight of 10.16 pounds. Other results include: Greg Doyle weighed in 6.76 pound red; Otis Chauncey weighed a 3.73 pound trout and David Merry weighed a 4.85 pound flounder. Finally, the winner the Key Auto Junior Angler Tournament was Corbin Lowe who caught a 5.02 pound redfish.

In River Or Ocean is proud to announce that the ninth Clay Roberts Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Natalie Hart on May 19, 2016. Natalie, a graduating senior at Bishop Kenny, was selected by the Scholarship Committee, as the student who best emulated Clay’s spirit and values. Natalie has been accepted and is going to enter Georgia Southern in the fall. Congratulations to Natalie and may God Bless her in all her endeavors.

Thank you again for making the Ninth Annual Clay Roberts Inshore Slam Fishing Tournament and the Memorial Scholarship a complete success. All proceeds from the tournament will be added to the Clay Roberts Memorial Scholarship Fund at Bishop Kenny High School. The tournament is one of many activities planned by IROO.
