Matthew’s is delighted to welcome special guest Yannick Rousseau for this very special engagement!

Born in the Gascony region of South West France, Yannick Rousseau was born to make wine. When he was five years old, he shared his first glass of homemade vino with grandfather Pepe, an artisan butcher who also hunted his own food and fermented his own wine.

While studying winemaking at the University Paul Sabatier in Toulouse, Rousseau interned as assistant winemaker at Cotes de Gascon and created a Colombard that would become his ‘founding wine’. Upon graduating with a Master’s in Enology & Viticulture, he moved to Napa and worked closely with several renowned winemakers before seeking out his own land. He happened upon one of the oldest Colombard vineyards in Russian River Valley, a 34 year old plot of vines that spoke to his heritage. He and his wife, Susan, fell in love with the Mt. Veeder terroir in Napa Valley and started Y. Rousseau Wines in 2008.

Today, Rousseau makes several varietals including two award-winning Tannats in his high-elevation vineyards. He remains deeply connected to his French roots and creates balanced, food-friendly wines.
