As we begin our third year, let me reintroduce you to Stacey Goldring. As a book club facilitator for over 10 years, Stacey also hosts the First Coast Connect Book Club with Melissa Ross of WJCT. We are lucky to have her and her contributions enrich our reading experience.
We meet on the first Tuesday of each month from September through May, excepting January.
Doors open 6:30 p.m and discussion begins at 7:00 p.m. Reservations are preferred. Cost is $10 per evening. Refreshments are served with a healthy portion of literary fun!
Our fall season of book club begins with The Red Notebook by Antoine Laurain. Description is below and the book is available at San Marco Books and More.
Heroic bookseller Laurent Letellier comes across an abandoned handbag on a Parisian street. There’s nothing in the bag to indicate who it belongs to, although there’s all sorts of other things in it. Laurent feels a strong impulse to find the owner and tries to puzzle together who she might be from the contents of the bag, especially a red notebook with her jottings, which really makes him want to meet her. Without even a name to go on, and only a few of her possessions to help him, how is he to find one woman in a city of millions?
Future Book Club Dates
In honor of the Great American Read, for October, we will read a book, TBC – to be chosen, from the list. Stay tuned for the title! Other fall titles will be announced after the September meeting.
Be sure to join us each month as we analyze, expound and deliberate great books.
Everyone is welcome and you don’t even have to read the book!
