About DESC   The Downtown Ecumenical Services Council (DESC) helps families fight poverty through financial assistance, groceries, clothing and case management services. Housed in a basement in the downtown core, DESC provided more than 13,500 services last year thanks to a corps of amazing volunteers and generous donors working with a small staff. This year, DESC has pivoted quickly to adapt to the coronavirus and provides all financial services remotely.
