On Saturday, June 18th at 9 am the newly refurbished Friendship Fountain will be officially unveiled at a ceremony in its honor. The 3.1 million dollar renovations include new landscape and hardscape, benches, lighting and fountain-works.

The original construction of the fountain was completed in 1965 at a cost of 1.75 million dollars. The fountain was originally named the Fountain of Friendship and Friendship Park was called Dallas Thomas Park and Marina. When it opened it was the largest and tallest fountain in the world shooting up to 120 ft into the air.

Though the official unveiling ceremony is taking place Saturday morning from 9 am to 11 am, make sure you stop by at night and see the fountain in all its lit up glory, complete with patriotic music and color sequencing.
